Okay, let me start by saying I realize this review is long overview. The Pink Friday Nicki Minaj Fragrance came out light-years ago, but, I’ve never been one to jump on the celebrity fragrance bandwagon. So, when I received the perfume as a gift, I let it sit on my vanity untouched and in the box (mainly because the statue of Nikki scared me so I wanted to keep it hidden). Anyway, my latest fragrance ran its course and I finally decided to give Minaj’s a try, and I was pleasantly surprised.
The scent: The sweet pink floral notes mixed with the warmth of creamy vanilla, skin musks and sheer woods makes for an intoxicating scent that not only smells amazing, but lingers through the day. Be prepared to turn heads as you walk into the room as people’s noses turn in your direction wondering where that sweet smell is coming from. It’s a bold, fresh fragrance that will make you feel as confident as Minaj herself.
The packaging: It’s supposed to be a replica of the superstar, with pink hair and pink lips, and a cute little necklace. I just wish she had a pink little bra, because the random blue lines across her chest is a question mark to me. Also, you have to decapitate her in order to open the bottle, which is a little unnerving, but still, a cool design.
Cost: $49.50 for 1.7 oz at Macys and other department stores
Peonies are highly fragrant flowers that range from dark red to soft white. When I was doing research on the flower I was surprised to learn all of the history and myths surrounding peonies. In Feng Shui, the flower symbolizes wealth and love (placing these flowers in your home will apparently attract a romantic partner). In some parts of Asia, when the flower is in full bloom, it symbolizes good fortune, success and peace. In Rome, it was believed to protect against evil. And, in ancient Greek mythology, there are multiple versions of a story about Zeus, king of the gods, saving a deity named Paeon, a physician to the gods, by turning him into the flower to avoid being killed by Aesclepius, the god of medicine and healing. Say that three times fast! Regardless of the story, the one fact that remains true is that peonies are stunning luscious flowers with a clean, fresh scent. Try adding some peony inspired products to your vanity to increase your good fortune, keep bad things away, and maybe even attract a special someone into your life.

I love the fall because beauty products in the most delectable fragrances start to emerge. I get to enjoy one of my favorite fall side dishes, pumpkin, all year round because of a special scented body wash. Although Halloween has passed and images of pumpkins are starting to be replaced with evergreen trees, there’s no better time than the present to stock up on aromatic sweet or spicy pumpkin beauty products while they are still around for the season.

When I went to the beach last month, I made it my goal to find the perfect spot on the shoreline that would allow me to have a picturesque view of the clear, blue ocean, against the pristine, white sand of Punta Cana. It also was very important for me to have this great view, while being shaded in to avoid getting burned by the sun’s harmful rays. I somehow managed to find the ideal spot, and as dozed off under the gentle swaying palm tree I had rested under.
I awoke, and was surprised to see that I had still tanned, as rays of sunlight snuck their way through the fonds of the palms trees. It was only then that I decided to apply sunscreen, but it was too late to reverse my tan. This summer, anytime you go outside make sure you apply sunscreen 15 minutes ahead of time, even if you plan on staying in the shade. These are a number of great sunblock options available that are more convenient that the traditional sticky lotion. Here are some great options you may want to try:
Disguise any bathroom deeds
This, to me, is the one of greatest things ever created. Poo~Pourri is a bathroom air-freshener that you spray in a toilet bowl BEFORE you use it to prevent the embarrassing odor. This is perfect if you share a communal bathroom at work, or stay over at someone house, whether it be a male friend, or a girl friend, no one ever has to know that you had any tummy issues, all because of this nifty little spray. And, it’s so fashionable. Check out the cool necklace around the neck of the little bottle.

Sometimes you need a little fragrance spritz when you’re not smelling your best, but, who wants to carry around liquids that can burst, and weigh your bag down? Last Thursday Coty Inc., confirmed a deal with international superstar Lady Gaga to develop her first-ever signature fragrance to be launched in spring 2012. Lady Gaga is known for being a fashion trendsetter, so it’s no surprise that she would venture into the fragrance business.
“Lady Gaga is explosive, provocative and sexy,” says Bernd Beetz, Chief Executive Officer, Coty Inc, three traits that will no doubt be expressed in her new perfume. The packaging of the bottle is sure to reflect her fashion-forward aesthetics. The fragrance line is yet to be named, but Lady Gaga will take on the role of Creative Director along with her Haus of Gaga team.
Coty’s portfolio of celebrity partnerships include L.A.M.B. fragrance by Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
On November 12th, singer Katy Perry launched her new cat-inspired fragrance called ‘Purr’ at Selfridges in London, England. Hundreds of fans lined up outside the store to catch a glimpse of the pop star, who wore a purple Miu Miu Fall 2010 dress. The fragrance is available exclusively at Nordstrom stores ($65.00 for a 3.4 oz) and will make its Statewide launch in New York City on November 16th.
You never know when you might need that extra little burst of scent, and usually the perfume you spray on in the AM will start to wear off by mid afternoon. But, carrying around liquid perfumes can be daunting and downright scary; one wrong move, and the entire thing can combust. Then, you also have to worry about finding the right place to give yourself a little spritz, and you will be the most hated person in a room full of people if you pull out a full bottle and start spraying away.
Portable perfumes are convenient for the busy girl on the go, because it allows you to slyly give yourself a fragrance touch-up, and also makes perfect stocking stuffer for the holidays. Here are some light, travel friendly fragrances that not only smell great, but won’t weigh your purse down:
