Fall Makeup Review: Revlon ColorStay 16hr Eye Shadow in Wild

Now that Fall is in full swing, I have been looking to update my makeup look with colors that amply reflect the season such as browns and oranges. This weekend I tried Revlon ColorStay 16hr Eye Shadow in Wild. The eyeshadow pallet is part of Revlon’s exclusive Spring 2014 Rio Rush Collection by Gucci Westman, which actually only features two pallets: Wild (which I tested) and Exotic. The tropical hues in the limited edition collection were inspired by “Carnaval” in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.

Although the colors were inspired by summer, I think the shades defiantly work well for the fall. The shimmery champagne and white base colors remind me of the holidays, the orange conjures thoughts of fall leaves, and the deep teal evokes a cold, winter night.

The white and champagne colors are very dry, and require several quotes to bring out the full hue, which in my opinion, still needs to be intensified with a deeper shade, perhaps of brown, at the base. However, the orange and teal are nothing short of magnificent. The vibrant colors are very pigmented and are perfect for blending.

I started followed the steps outlined behind the back of the packaging to get the look pictured at the top of this article. But, once I saw how nicely the colors came together I felt comfortable adding my own flair by using the white on the inner corners of the eyes and center of the lids for a bright-eyed look. Do you think it looks like a good fall eye shadow palette, or should it be kept in the summer box?

Tropical Eye Makeup Tutorial

open eyes makeup look

A few months ago, when I was nominated as a finalist for the Allure Magazine Beauty Blogger of the Year Awards, I received a fabulous goody bag filled with amazing products from Revlon. I absolutely fell in love with Revlon’s ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Quad in Inspired. The pigments are bright, playful, fun and long-lasting. I was preparing to go away on vacation, and the colors in the quad inspired me to create the below eye makeup look. Keep scrolling to learn the steps to follow, so you can get whisked away to the tropical islands with this easy-to-do multi-colored eye makeup look.

Products needed
*Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Quad, Inspired
*Revlon Photoready Eye Primer + Brightener
*Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Liner – 001 Onyx
*Angled liner brush
*Mascara

Step 1: Apply the eye primer all over the eye area

Step 2: Line your upper lids and waterline (optional) carefully with the lash liner

Step 3: Using the wand that comes with the quad or another eye shadow brush, apply the champagne color all over your lids all the way up to the brow bone

Step 4: Using your eyeshadow brush pick up a good amount of the green pigment onto he brush and apply on the inner edge of the eye, stopping before the color reaches the center

Step 4

Step 5: Apply the teal pigment, where the green ends and extend the color to the center of your lids

Step 6: Apply the purple pigment where the teal ends and extend to the outer edge of the upper lid

Step 7: Using an angled brush liner, repeat the same color pattern on the bottom lid right under your eyelashes

Step 7

Step 8: Pick up some more of the champagne color and dab it onto the inner corner of each eye in a V shape

Step 8

Step 9: Apply mascara

When you’re done, your eyes should look like this:

I also have a video tutorial on this look, I can post upon request. xoxo

Vote for me in Allure’s Beauty blogger of the Year Contest!

ALLUREUNCLESAM

I’m so excited to revel that Delialicious Picks was selected as a finalist for Allure Magazine’s first-ever Beauty Blogger Awards. I entered the contest on their website a couple of months ago, not thinking I even stood a chance against the many bloggers I knew would be applying, especially because my blog focuses on more than just beauty. Nonetheless, I was selected among 15 other finalists to compete for the coveted title of Beauty Blogger of the Year! Check out my bio on their website here»

I won’t be able to win this alone. I need YOU to head over to Allure’s website, and vote once every weekday when all the challenges are live. And just for voting, you’ll be eligible for some cool prizes, including a trip to Miami Beach!

The first challenge will be posted on April 23rd, I’m really hoping for all your support!

Here are the cool prizes at stake:
• Win a trip to New York City, with backstage access to a show at New York Fashion Week, attend Allure’s Best of Beauty party (and take home a suitcase stuffed with winning products worth an estimated $2,500), and go on a behind-the-scenes tour of Revlon’s headquarters to see a preview of new products.
• Be featured in a story in the October issue of Allure.
• Allure 2012 Blogger of the Year logo to be posted on winner’s website for a year.
• Have the opportunity to submit work to Allure and allure.com.

I’ll be posting a reminder on the day of the first challenge. May the best blog win!

“Are you made for Fire & Ice?”: Jessica Biel’s new ad campaign for Revlon

Revlon has released its new ad campaign featuring Jessica Biel for the re-launch of their Fire & Ice collection. The advertisement is a reinterpretation of the original 1952 campaign ad which featured Dorian Leigh wearing a sparkling silver dress, draped in red fabric. Revlon’s Fire & Ice collection will include the re-launch of its matching lips and fingertips parings in a bold, fiery red with prices ranging from $4.99-$8.99.
