The 2016 International Dwarf Fashion Show

New York Fashion week broke barriers this year from featuring models wearing hijabs to models with disabilities, but Japan isn’t far behind in reinventing the standard of beauty that is represented on the runway. On October 26th, the third International Dwarf Fashion Show was held in Tokyo as part of Japanese Fashion Week with the goal challenging the discriminatory practices in the beauty and fashion industries, while also giving little people the opportunity to express themselves and take a stand for a hugely underrepresented population in the industry.

Unique to the show, any model who wanted to be included had to be under 1.30 metres. The lucky few who were selected to walk the runway were given free travel and hotel stays.

The event originated in Paris and debuted in New York City in February 2015. Here are some highlights from the recent event.
