If you follow me on Instagram, you already know I’m obsessed with the new limited-edition Urban Decay Gwen Stefani makeup pallet. I created the above look using colors from the collection, which are absolutely gorgeous.
Here are the makeup details:
Eyes: blonde on the lid, danger on the crease and bathwater on inner corner
Lips: Rocksteady liner and lipstick
Cheeks: Easy from the blush palette
Eye shadow: I was surprised at how pigmented the colors are, especially since there are a lot of muted colors in the palette. The brightest colors are deep blue and gold. There is a lovely soft pink and some purple hues that are light, but the rest of the palette actually reminds me of Urban Decay’s Naked palette with black, white and brown tones. Regardless, they are easy to blend and so versatile.
Lipstick: Many of the lip colors in the line have a matching lip liner. The liner glides on effortlessly and so does the lip color. I tested a bunch of colors on the back of my hand the night before and woke up the next morning and still saw residual color, even after I showered! These lips colors definitely have some serious staying power.
Cheeks: The cheek palette is great if you like a light flush of color. I tried to contour with it, but the colors are not contrasting enough; however, there are fabulous if you want a glow and you can deepen the colors depending on the type of brush you use and how many times you apply the product.
Let’s recap shall we?
I literally once has a makeup artist say to me, “You have that ‘special’ kind of skin tone, no one has quite perfected yet.”
So, I was excited to learn that MAKE UP FOR EVER commissioned a study from The NPD Group to find out why so many women have a hard time finding the right foundation shade.
Here are some key findings from the survey:
- 73% of women say finding the right foundation is challenging (with over 500 foundation products on the market it’s not surprising women are overwhelmed!)
- 72% of women DO NOT change their foundation seasonally (even though skin shade can change up to 4-5 times a year)
- 62% of women had difficulty applying foundation
- 54% of women say finding the right shade is the most difficult
In order to help women solve their foundation challenges, MAKE UP FOR EVER will be hosting more than 100 FREE Foundation Nation events at SEPHORA stores and MAKE UP FOR EVER Boutiques in the U.S. and Canada from September 20th – October 5th. During free 15-minute one-on-one sessions, attendees will have their biggest foundation issues addressed, get perfectly matched with the correct shade, and taught proper application techniques. Makeup artists will do one half of the client’s face, and then have the client do the other half so that they can learn how to do it on their own – a teaching technique currently taught in the brand’s makeup schools across the county.

I’ll admit it, I own a cluster of beauty products that I haven’t the slightest idea what to do with. If it comes is shiny packaging or has sparkles, I must have it; but, the problem is, once I do add it to the overflowing avalanche of beauty products I own, it goes unused since I don’t know how to use it properly. So, I was super excited to learn that MAKE UP FOR EVER is launching its first-ever mobile tour, where professional make-up artists will take a look inside consumer’s bags and teach them how to use all the products they currently own, regardless of the brand. They will also perform a beauty overhaul to get rid of products that aren’t right for the individual.
